I have some curly koa on order sent an email to LB and got a jeweler to pull medallions and clean them for a custom grip. All reasonable. I can have a real nice set of grips.

But dwas has me thinking.

This jeweler is a buddy and started to put ideas in my head. He wants to make me a mold of the medallion.  This is where it starts to get crazyscrewy

I am having visions of silver, copper, bronze medallions possibly even invest in some gold he even mentioned platinum $$$.

He said they would be very slightly smaller because of how the mold works. He is a little worried about copy-write infringement.

Would any of you guys want some? I would do this to help our little community out i dont need/want to make money off this just help cover costs.

I would prefer not to get involved but if there is some interest I might. Let me know what you guys think.

I would be interested, I think a lot of guys here would be also. Depending on cost. I think most of us are looking mainly for replacements .There is a lack of supply for medallions and a lot of us want them for LB grips etc.

I think somebody discussed making them before here, there could be a trademark issue if word got out.

I don't mean to be negative, this will be (I think) our third trip down this road. I'd like to see something like this happen.

As regards copyright infringement, have you seen all the DW crap on ebay? Shirts, gun cabinet knobs, clocks, watches, etc? I do know that our Forum Admin would have to approve the distribution of potentially non-licensed DW items through DWF.

On the other hand, I'd be in for some DWF medallions

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I agree with Steve on this!   I had taken pictures and such to a jeweler to make the rings DWF   though have never heard anything on them!   Ear rings now there is a thought, some thing for the wife or girl friends!!   Keep us posted!   I have some old grips that i pop the medallions from should I need any!

After some discussion ill get this medallion project started. Silver would look cool and be on the cheaper side in comparison. It will cost around $200 to make the mold. Once the mold is made its just cost of silver and when they do a kiln run. I would be getting this around cost because of the thanksgiving test. They always ask if I would be invited to thanksgiving dinner and yes I am invited. I would feel comfortable asking them to do around 20 (I want 4) I dont know how many they will actually feel comfortable doing. After some math cost would be around 20 bucks each I cant see them being anymore than that for silver.

The more I think about them the more I want some silver medallions in my custom grips. I prefer the DW logo over the DWA. Instead of black paint they suggested the background would have a bumpy texture to it. Its gonna take some time because of the holidays jewelers are quite busy right now and this is not high on their priorities as they wont make much on this. SANY0874.JPGImage Enlarger

Sorry DWF medallions are not an option. Ill let you guys know more when I get more info.

P.S. If anyone has some gold or platinum they want to share I could get some made from that. I might as well askbig-grin.
