So I buggered up the muzzle end of the barrel using the stuck barrel nut removing method which BTW didn't work for me. The damage came from the 1/2" nuts on the end of the 5/16" threaded rod. Kind-of rounded the crown inward. I did finally get the nut off by chasing it around with gentle taps from my hammer on a square-ended small rat file.
So now I need to re-crown. Any suggestions on angle? 11 degree, 45 degree or something else? Maybe just square it off?
Looking for suggestions. I can probably just shoot it as is- but I'd like to take care of this now, before I deploy for the next 12 months.
Thx,
Ron

mox-ct's are re-crowned barrels and his is a combination of a stepped crown and a 25* angle (he would have to post as to the accuracy difference he noticed if there was one). I re-crown all my non-Norwich barrels mainly because I don't like the cut-off look Monson and Palmer guns have, and they a lot of times are not square (some are). Any person capable of running a lathe should be able to cut a crown, it's not difficult, getting the bore centered which is extremely important on an angled crown is probably the most difficult part.
