Hey Guys, I got the impression that not a lot going on this topic, but I'd have to say I bought a DW "Because I Re-load"....It was made with this in mind, at least I'm fairly sure. I don't believe you ever get better ammo for a DW unless "You Make It" yourself. Yes, my "opinion" of course. Maybe it's just my OCD ( obsessive compulsive disorder ) ? But I assure those guys who don't load their own, the performance improvement is very solid proof of that. When you shoot out to as much as 200+ yards with a hand gun you should think of performance...always!
Anyhow...that's just my 2 cents worth.

Some of the DW calibers are for 'Loaders only', like the 375 Supermag, there isn't any factory ammo for them so you either load your own or you don't shoot.
I got back into reloading as my DWAS brought me to calibers like the 375 and 414 supermags. I now load for every caliber I own except of course rimfire.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Scorpio, I hear ya, I load it all except for RFire as well, I use to load some "wildcat" stuff when I was red hot for Metallic Silhouette for my contenders but fell off a bit when I was shooting a lot of combat auto loaders...all 1911 .45 acp. Not long ago I thought I might need to reload .22 RF, my supply was becoming low...and .22 seemed to vanish. But since have recovered what I like to have on hand. Unfortunately, i don't own a Supermag...but it would be great have one for sure.
I don't know, can 22 RF be hand loaded?
Thanks for that post...take care. HR.

By all means, bring on the reloading action.
A few years ago, several of our Members collaborated on a Reloading Roundtable, you can find the link on the right sidebar.
And just to whet your appetite for a SuperMag

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Speaking of "Hand Mades"or any wildcat cartridge...I owned a wild auto loader, 1911...chambered in .45 Win-mag...American Grizzly, a massive pistol with plenty of recoil, I made a big mistake when I sold it in the late 80's. That cartridge might be fun in a long barrel DW. I wonder has anyone heard of someone making a Barrel chambered for that potent Cartridge ? I know SST would have options and special chamberings for T/C's. But i would imagine that barrel is out there. I'm not talking most efficient ballistics wise, like a 45-70, a potent cartridge, but not all that "efficient". Maybe the EKW arms guys would know?

Speaking of wildcats, anyone shooting .41 mag and not loading .41 specials is missing out IMHO! Dead easy to do by trimming back the magnum cases to equivilent length of .44 special. I use 200 grain cast boolits and aim for ballistics equivilent to .45 ACP with cast target loads. In a heavy large frame six gun these feel like light target .38s and burn the powder much more efficiently than the larger case.

I reload all my stuff too, with the exception of .45ACP, but that will change soon. I don't necessarily reload to get the best bullet performance, just mainly because it's cheaper than factory ammo. I can shoot a whole lot more this way...plus, reloading is just plain fun.

I've thought about that in the past. Quality Cartridge sells proper-length brass headstamped .41 SPECIAL, but it is expensive. Might be kinda cool, but if I have a hankering to shoot lower powered rounds, I just get a smaller gun/cartridge out. Guess I just like the power of the .41 Magnum just the way it is.
