So after all the yakety-yack about disassembling my 715, I am confused about the rear sight. The one I tore all the way apart is kind of different, with the windage retention screw coming straight down through the top of the sight, and the adjustment screws are straight blade screwdriver types. This sight seems a little more crudely made than the others I have, is this variety common?

None of them measure up to the Millet, BTW.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hitting "old guys" might be a hate crime. Hitting one this old might call for capital punishment.

Picture tomorrow or so.

I am a little interested in this topic.  The rear sight on my 745 seems bent and I may need to fix it or replace it.

Mox, to be honest a Palmer 745 isn't worth fixing!  Just send it to me and I'll use it as parts... Wink

Guys MidwayUSA did list the Millet rear sight for DW's in the past but not now.  I also looked on Millets website and could not find anything!

So DW may be the only place to get these now. Confused

Guys, there is still hope. I got a Millet for my 15-2 about a month ago and it fits well. It is a DW00002. I checked the Millet website back then and it had rear sights available, but not the DW series.

I happened on Opticsplanet and found a nice selection. Both the 2 and the 3 which is a white outline. They also have a number of DW front sight inserts available.

Interestingly, I checked Millets website yesterday and they no longer list any rear sights. At least I couldn't find any.Confused

BUT, Opticsplanet still has them available, I put one in my shopping cart and there was no backorder. May want to grab one while they are still in stock.

Hope this helps.

i have noticed the rear sight looks very very similar to one on a ruger GP-100.

had anyone ever tried this?

it could mean an availibility of aftermarket and replacement sights.

I recently purchased a model 15 that had no rear sight. It had a cheap scope with it. I purchased a Millett from Optics Planet and can't figure out how to install it. The only one they had in stock had a black blade. The elevation screw won't fit correctly and has a small pin at the top of it that needs to be pushed back, I'm thinking. Also, I'm having trouble figuring out how the 2 small springs fit under the sight. I'm a newbie here, but sure would appreciate any help or advice. As soon as I figure out how to post pics, I will!  Smile

I haven't removed my rear sight from any of mine yet, so I'm not much help. Some of these other guys have however, including SteveCT. So they may be of some help. GoodLuck

Pic posting tips are in the "FAQ's" area to the upper right of this screen.

You just need to place the two springs in the little square holes in the bottom of the sight--it is easier if you hold the gun and sight upside down so the springs stay in place.  Hold it still and turn the screw in a few threads to hold it on the gun--then put the cross pin through.

Shootist, Thanks a lot for the tips! I'll give it a try when I find an elevation screw that works. The one that came with the Millett sight doesn't fit. DW 15Image Enlarger
