Yep, that was me a few short months ago. I was the guy saying:

"9 mm is the generic handgun caliber"

"it will always be easier to buy than reload 9 mm"

"I have over 1000 9 mm, I'll just buy more when I need it"

HUH! Then December 14 rolled around

I started stocking up on primers in small rifle, .223 brass, .22 cal bullets, powder, same stuff for .38/.357 mag and .45 ACP. Between factory ammo and components I am set for thousands of rounds.  Just the icing on the cake, buy up 5K of .22lr!

OOOPS! Where did all the cheap 9 mm go???

I backed into being able to reload 9 mm when I fell into a great deal on the Deluxe 4 Die Lee Carbide die set (Thanks Chris) in December, but I got careless. No primers and very little brass (except for the factory ammo, also known as "future brass"), no bullets, and a couple of generic and usable powders.

Blind luck put me into a couple thousand CCI primers, and primers were always going to be the stumbling block. Diligent, relentless shopping helped me find a couple hundred more new Winchester brass (and more available), Alliant Power Pistol powder, 1K 124 gr hollowpoints (and more available soon, with my name on another 1000).

Dare I say it? Reload for .380? Really ??

Actually, no, but I am buying up Hornady Critical Defense 90 gr FTX for my "little friend". Tons of .380 ball available for practice right now, and CD looks like the way to go for pocket pistols.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

It's not just "the gun people" buying everything. People who never owned a gun are on

the buy too and the stuff they are buying are not (as far as we know) at risk of any ban.

Yet these new to the scene gun owners are just as panic driven as any "chicken

little" I have ever seen.

And don't forget the folks who buy to make a profit on the re-sale.  I think there is ALOT of that going on.

It's true, when I first started talking about reloading last summer Steve couldn't believe I was considering 9mm!

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?

Not only do I reload for 9mm, but I cast for it as well...  Man I'm a cheap-skate.

My Family was remarkably foresighted-got me back into reloading Xmas 2011

I am GTG in .38/.357, .223, .45, and now 9 mm.

Just about every shopping trip of the LGS's I find useful stuff

The best part is that when I am reloading, there is no TV, no telephone (my cellphone is not allowed at the bench!), no interruptions, just classic rock and country music,  and working the press. It is so relaxing to lose myself in the process, in it's own way reloading is every bit as enjoyable as shooting, and shooting is always fun.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I too am glad reloading was passed down to me.  No issues with ammo as long as I have the components:
