Does anyone know how to restore or get close to the matte gray finish on the stainless guns ? I was considering  trying an iron bead blast or media blast after masking the rest of barrel using gorrilla tape. I probably should have read the posts on "online product descriptions" before i bought the 8" 715 shroud. Like grandpa used to say " You pay your moneys and you take your chances"  THANKS

I sent shrouds to EWK Arms already to have him beadblast the top straps. Came out great just like new. You might want to contact him.

#80 grit glass bead, I believe.  But, sending it to Eric is probably a better idea if you aren't already set up.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thanks Guys,

I really appreciate the info. I dont have 80grit glass so Eric is probably best way to look into this. He seems to do a great job on all the products and services he undertakes.

#80 - #120 glass bead will do it.  It's cheaper than alum. oxide and works fine.  Here's a tip for masking....use aluminum duct tape.  It will give you a sharper edge and will hold up to the blasting a lot better than Gorilla or duct tape.  I do all my SS shrouds and they come out looking like a fresh factory finish (usually better than the factory finish).

Good idea on the aluminum tape ! do you use one layer or more ? Also what do you do on the front sight recess. put an old one in to protect groove and threads ? What air pressure are you using ? I am basically a DIY guy that enjoys working on my DWs as well as shooting them.  I may try this myself. I have one shroud that REALLY needs it and a couple  that would be nice looking factory fresh.

Thanks again for the tips
