I have an old Monson .44 which I bought a few years ago for $300 (10" and 6" VHR bbls). The gun is functional but worn. You might say it's a little beat. I was considering having the factory tech give it the once-over (twice) to check it for safety and worn parts. Also, the front sight screw hole for the 10" shroud is badly off-center and even bottomed-out, the screw doesn't hold the blade firmly.
I am thinking about having DW inspect it, replace and worn parts, and hopefully fix the hole. Maybe they could even do a little trigger job to turn my beater into a really nice revolver. I plan on an aftermarker hard-chrome finish afterwards.
I'd like to hear the experience of those of youwho have used the DW factory to service their revolvers.
Thank you.

I just spent $370 on my 357max at DW. They replaced almost all moving parts and reblued it. Their bluing is good, but I've seen better. The gun works better than when I first bought it, the trigger is much smoother and it locks up like a vault. It took about 4 weeks for the estimate and another 4 weeks for the gun to get back.
I purchased a new 445 SuperMag but the shroud had not been finished. I sent it in to Keith to be brush blued to match the gun. They charged me $80 and that included shipping. I was pretty happy with it.
Also bought 3 44 barrels and shrouds before the price increase and they all look very nice.
I agree with SMF... I think they're 1911s take priority so you may have to wait a bit but their service is first rate.

You wait anyplace you go! A good gunsmith always has a backlog, and I will always wait for the work to be done right.
Anyone that tells you he can turn stuff right around is:
An unknown gunsmith with no customers (iffy at best)
A known gunsmith with no customers (run as fast as you can)
Your brother in law (who doesn't want you telling his wife about last year in Deer Camp)
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
