I want to put scopes on the 6" shrouds of my .22, .357 and .44. Will I be affecting the value of the the shrouds if I do this? I can't seem to find any clamp on type of bases that don't go for outrageous prices so I am pretty much limited to a D&T type of base. I want to go with a shroud mount because I can change out to my other size shrouds/barrels for open sight shooting. I know that if I change out my shrouds I would have to recheck my zero but I don't think it would be too far off. I think Eric is working on some integrated shrouds that will allow scope mounting but I don't know if he will offer something in the .44 series. Anyway, any input would be helpful. I don't want to affect the value of the pistol by doing this. Thanks, Lonnie.

D&T shrouds will drop the value to most collectors, but not by much. A lot of guys like to keep their original shrouds mint and buy a second shroud for D&T. And yes Eric is working on all kinds of cool DW stuff so we just have to wait and see what he comes up with for us. You could buy one extra small frame shroud and mount the scope to share between the 22 and 357 if that meets your needs. Good luck.

I can't comment on the "value", but once you D&T an original shroud, you can't undo that. If you are planning to keep, shoot, and enjoy it as D&T, then there's a lot of value for you. If you want to sell it in the future, then the buyer needs to perceive the same value, or you lose "value" along the way.
Ultimately, I think guns are made to be shot, so the value to me is in the shooting. If Daniel B. meant for them to be hung on the wall and admired, he would have put a picture hanger on it.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
