I ordered a cylinder stop to fill in the half moon hole in the side plate. I was figuring I could do some fitting and maybe do this myself. At least I was going to ask for some advice on doing this. But when I took a close look at the side plate I can see a crack; you can see it in the picture.
Seems my options are;
to send it to someone to fix my existing sideplate
send it in to have a new sideplate fitted to my pistol
just keep shooting it with the hole
I don't like the third option at all. Opinions?

You'd be amazed how many DW's have the crack on the backside and nobody ever knows...
I look at every sideplate I pull off under magnification--many of them are cracked--good news is the crack is minimal in depth.
Just take a c-clamp, pad the jaws well, line up the stop and it will press right in... 2 minute job.
Then go back to shooting and forget about the crack
I'm always very careful removing sideplates on DW's for this very reason...

Depending on how much interference you have with the new cyl. stop and the ID of the hole, you're going to run the risk of cracking it all the way through (if it's not already) when you press in the new stop. The crack appears to extend all the way to the edge which would indicate that it would be cracked through to some extent.
