How likely is it if I find another side plate that the holes line up on my gun,. Unlikely? I just noticed today a hairline crack starting at the cylinder stop hole and stopping before the curve at bottom of side plate. It's only visible on the back side of plate. I just bought this gun and never thought to inspect the back of the side plate. Would you be concerned with continuing to shoot 38spl only until I could fix it?

Holes should line up. It will be a matter of carefully fine tuning the edges of the sideplate to fit the space. It will probably need to be blued after you work on it.

I would not be afraid to shoot 38s. Its more likely to break from putting it in or taking out than shooting.

Thanks for the advice. You've all been a big help with my many questions. Glad I found this site. I'm extremely careful with taking it off and on. I spoke to the CZ/DW gunsmith through email yesterday. He said if I find a side plate he could fit it to the gun if I send it up. I'll start looking for a side plate and shoot 38 spl in the meantime.
