Recently I bought a very lightly used Model 15-2 357 which I've done a complete tear down giving it a good cleaning and lubing. I lightly sanded and polished rough areas on the frame also. Now with the cylinder open the trigger pull is very smooth but when cylinder is closed the trigger isn't nearly as smooth. I also took the cylinder, extractor rod and yoke/crane assembly apart, cleaned & lubed. Since this gun barely had a turn line or visible wear inside I'm wondering if it just needs more breaking in or whether it needs more work. I've been dry firing it quite a bit but still has a ways to go to be smooth and consistent pull. Wondering if a little light polishing of the ejector star would help. I'm hesitant to use Mother's mag polish or not. What say the experts here?

On most any revolver, the trigger will always pull easier with the cylinder open, than closed. With it closed, there is more leverage to turn the cylinder along with moving the rest of the action. You said you cleaned the cylinder & all associated pieces. So as long as it spins freely, that should be as good as it gets. Polishing the ejector star may help, not sure. Mother's polish has such a low abrasive amount, I really doubt it would do damage...but here I am just assuming. I've used Mothers on my guns, but mainly exterior, so maybe someone else might have more info on using it on internal pieces.
Regarding dry firing, maybe get a set of snap caps. I'm not sure how much dry firing DW's will take before needlessly wearing out firing pin stuff.
