Greetings from Minnesooota! Going to start reloading again for my .41 mag. Going to use some old 2400 (Hercules)thats pushing 30-35 yrs. old.Still in original container. Will use 15.4-15.5 grns. with a 210 grn Berrys plated bullet.Primers are CCI300 large pistol, equally old.Am I ok using this or should I scrap powder and primers?Any advice would be appreciated. Also, local range says they will be open monday 5-18.Thank you Komerad Gov.Tim Jong Walz! Goodday for now from Minnesooota.
Beware of what you ask for, you might just get it.

Primers should be OK if you've kept them in a dry place. Powder does go bad when not stored in a cool (<80 degrees), dry place. If you give it a whiff and it smells rotten, then I'd throw it away. That said, I've used powder that my Dad gave me and had no idea how old it was; definitely 30+ years old.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I have a .41 mag DW. Thats one of my favorite cal. It falls between the .357 mag and .44 mag. It has 25% less kick than a .44 mag. And yet some test show it penetrates farther than a .44 mag. Its the best of both worlds.
It really never caught on though with most people. I think the reason it didn't become as popular as the .357 mag and .44 mag. Is because no one would make a .41 spl. ctg. People like the versatility of a pistol that can shoot 2 different ctg. It was suppose to be geared toward law enforcement too. A great ctg. I noticed the ammo ia expensive. I reload mine. I like the Lg. Magnum pistol primers. Be safe.
A pic of mine that was in the DW calendar in 2012
