I did have to order a black mount as DW hasn't made a SS mount for years if ever they did.

Awesome. I had my local gunsmith cerakote my scope bases in a SS "color" finish. All of them were that black parkerized type finish.

Happy New Year Andrew.occasion

I live in a very rural area and would have to drive 150 miles to find a real gunsmith. frown

The attached photo shows some damage to the rear ring on this mount.  I am not sure of the manufacturer as there are no visible markings.  I am leaning toward just replacing the mount with a Dan Wesson mount from Numrich.  Probably buy two since I have the second second barrel assembly.  Any thoughts or additional information?

I provided the photo to Burris so see if they could identify the mount or rings.  They believe the rings are theirs but they do not recognize the mount.  Their Signature rings will work so that is the way I am going to approach this shroud.  I really like the non-marring inserts.

I also contacted Numrich and I have the last Dan Wesson factory mount on the way.  Once it arrives I will contact Norwich for the work.

The DW factory drill n tap mounts from Numrich are the way to go. ROCK SOLID.

Keep us posted if DW is still offering to drill n tap shrouds. After Bob retired I had my doubts on what they will continue to offer for service.

I did an online work request 2/25 and followed that up with a phone call today.  The CSR I spoke with indicated "Keith" may pick up the request but offered little promising information.  So either Keith is busy or DW is a no-go for the shroud work.

Was it Genny (female) you spoke with?

No, it was a male and I did not write down his name.  Is Genny a better contact and, if so, do you have current contact information?

Yeah shes good at responding. I sent her an email last weekend and she responded to me on Tuesday. Placed the order for a 8 inch 357 mag stainless barrel tube. $110 plus tax and shipping. $131 shipped. Arrived yesterday (Friday) from FedEx.

I sent her an email on Wednesday at 9:51 and she replied at 10:12.

I told her I saw an old brochure for Dan Wesson branded holsters and wondered if she had any in stock inventory.

Don't get excited, she advised that they have never made holsters for their Dan Wessons.

Genny replied to me earlier this week and my shroud is now at the DW facility.  Thanks for the contact information!

The picture below is interesting and odd at the same time.  The mounts have the same hole pattern and the new DW mount will attach to this shroud.  However, the old shroud does not have relief for the frame so the shroud holes are forward and not in the rib "meat".  Purely a cosmetic issue in my opinion.  My father-in-law was a machinist by trade so I am sure he mounted this himself.  The only identification I see on the old mount is the "DW" on the bottom and my assumption is this is a model specification.  Anyway, the rear ring is damaged and probably junk. I guess I can put it back on and get a new ring set but I think I prefer the picatinny rail.  I suspect this was not aligned properly for many years and contributed accuracy problems.  I hope the scope is not damaged and we will see how it shoots after reassembly.

Received my shroud and scope mount from DW and everything looks fine.  FYI - check with DW before ordering a mount elsewhere as it was $20 less expensive for the factory mount.  Now I just need to find the time to load some ammo and get back to the range!

Thanks to everyone for the DW contact info.  Genny was more than helpful and Keith did good work in am timely manner.

Nice to hear they have the scope mounts again. Last time I sent in a shroud to be drilled and tapped (2 years ago?) Bob said they didn’t have any scope mounts. So I had to buy one on Numrich

F.Y.I. A Millet scope mount just showed up on ebay. Says it's for 41 & 44 Dan Wesson. It's an auction with no bids yet starting at .99 looks like 4 separate mounts no drill mounts. Shipping is $8.90
