Okay, I "sort of" did this basic tune up, in so far as that I took the gun all the way down (excellent tutorial!), cleaned a bit of sticky carbon and gunk build up on the interior and all parts, replaced the factory springs with an 8# Wolff and the trigger return spring, lightly lubed every bearing surface with either Mil-Tec grease or oil. I did this on the premise that it was my first trip inside a Dan and maybe we should just "get acquainted" first before we get rough. I am happy with the experience and the results so far, we'll see as to actual live fire. Knowing what I know now, for ME, this seems to be an easier gun to work on then an S&W K or L frame. Maybe I just got lucky this time. And had excellent help!

The "Average Joe" tune up tutorial IS excellent and gave me the confidence to do a complete breakdown of all my DW 15-2s(3). I recently installed the RP trigger return spring too but left the mainspring stock. I'll be interested to see the results using an 8# mainspring/hammer spring. Seems pretty light and could lead to light strikes but I'm no DW expert. Good luck
I have done bunches of replacement spring jobs. Always with the 8lb spring. The factory spring is 9lb. That really isn't much difference. When you add in the return spring weight you get 10 to 11 lbs instead of 12 or so. The main advantage is how smooth the Wolff return spring is. Makes all the difference in the world IMHO.

Shot my DW with it's new spring kit installed, solid, reliable ignition with multiple factory and handloads, NO issues with light strikes, 8# spring installed.
