I have some VV3N37 I got a while back for a diffrent gun. It's about the only thing I have for 10mm and 357 full loads right now. Not much load data for 357 outside of the VV manual which is narrow. Anyway I load up some Nornady 140's at what should be about 1250fps and some Nossler 158's at what should be about 1100fps.
I chrono'd them and they were both about 200fps slow. Wow, that's a lot. Has anyone loaded 3N37 and found it to slower than advertised?

My thoughts....
There are so many variables such as what was the load data calculated at and did it get tested. If tested, what were the test variables.
For me, I don't pay any attention to load data fps
Some of the variables are:
Primer type/age
accuracy of load measurement
new or reload case
case size
head space
amount of crimp
etc, etc, etc

Hi Mike:
The OAL and bullet diameter have alot to due with the speed as well as the barrel length.
VV 3N37 is indeed listed in the VV Reloading Manual (3rd Edition) which I have in my library.
They do not list Hornady or Nossler bullets but here is data regarding HP Speers....
For the 158g HP Speer bullet you should be at 7.4 to 8.3g at the high end with a 1.575" OAL.
Speeds should be in the 1150 – 1250 FPS range.
For the 140g HP Speer bullet you should be at 8.3 to 9.3g at the high end with a 1.575" OAL.
Speeds should be in the 1270 – 1390 FPS range with the smaller pill.

I've got that data, VV manual #3 . They use a 7" test barrel (my DW is a 6"), I notice VV's starting load velocities are about where other data is maxed out. They must have one hellva barrel there in finland.
I just loaded smack in the middle of VV's data and will chrono it next time I'm at the range.
