I just bought a Warne scope base for my .445 but it doesn't fit anywhere. I think it's supposed to sit atop the shroud but the top of the shroud is a little bit too wide for it. Also the base has three screwholes but there sure are no matching fittings in the shroud. Am I really supposed to machine the base to fit then drill and thread my own holes in the shroud???
Good ideas anyone? Better scope mounts out there somewhere?

There is a clamp on scope base from B Square that appears to still be a current item
http://secure.armorholdings.com/b-square/dw.html
The base has tabs that fit into the vent slots and tightens into place, no drill/tap
Here's a photo of my son's Model 44 with the B Square mount

It's a little clunky looking and pushes the scope up a little high from the bore axis, but solid as a rock
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hi Steve. Like you say it's nice not having to drill the shroud but I would prefer a lower base. That's a big one!

I have one of the B-Suare clamp on's too. It came with a gun and i have used it but as suggested it is sort of clunky and gaudy. It will howwever let you scope a gun you do not wish to drill. The Weigand sits tight and is nice in that respect.

Is the scope mounted on the gun now, or are they two separate purchases?
The B-square will stand up pretty high, as you can see from the photo. Another option might be extended height rings, you can get them in a variety of heights. Midway or Cabela's should have something available

Guys, can you recommend a scope base for a 7445 for me? I'm bartering for a 7445 with an excellent piece of glass (Weaver) but the mounts do not fit the pistol at all. The scope touches the frame.
Thank you.
I'd give it a real good look over if the scope is touching the frame--shoddy scope mounting usually is a reflection of the owner. You may have stripped screw threads under that mount (although a B-square will fix that). What kind of base is it now?
