I had to replace the barrel on the model 15 that I just bought. Since EWK was on hold, I ordered one new from Dan Wesson, and it slugs at .3588. That strikes me a big, but is that common for this gun?
I just checked EWK and sent a message to see how the availability is looking, just a few minutes ago. Any idea how those usually slug?
My throats are .359, FYI.
I'm going back to the garage to mic this slug again.
Thanks, you guys have been very helpful.

Ummm.
I checked and mine is .3588, really.
Even though it doesn't have many rounds through it yet, the accuracy has been a bit, off. At least from what I expected. Slugged it a little while ago. I'm thinking this is it.

I have checked three DW barrerls in recent months and they all checked 3588 also, but for some reason it never checked the throuts.
My DW's have out shot every S&W I own and some other club members Smith's, one with an 8" barreled 16-4 IIRC was rather put off. That Smith is in one of the local shops now for sale.
The thing that I really like about my DW's is cleaning them, the frame cleans up so easy, but trying to clean above the forcing cone on my S&W 610's is impossible.

If you shoot cast, are you getting good accuracy? Any tips? I'm casting my own and handloading, that's all I shoot.
I'm not that far into developing the loads for it, but they haven't been working out that well. Shooting at 25 yards off a rest and it's not all that impressive. Also tweaking the loads I developed in my 6 inch Taurus, which shoot really great in that gun.

Dw's will slug all different diameters depending on when they were made--they used the same broaches for YEARS... I have some barrels that slug under .355

Do they all shoot cast well? Any tips for a .3588 barrel and cast?

That's about all I shoot is HC lead, but I don't cast myself. Are you shooting slow, fast, heavy bullet or light? Or somewhere in the middle maybe?
I don't shoot competition, sometimes I will have some friendly target punching with a club member so I have never really tweaked in a load for one hole shooting.

I have loads for 158, 168 and 200 SWC that typically group less than 1 inch at 25 yards. The best groups are .6 inch. That's all off a rest. The best accuracy is with soft lead and 700X. Magnum loads with H110 group at 1 inch so far, but I have more development to do with it.
If a mould/bullet doesn't group less than 1 inch I sell it and try another one. So far the Dan Wesson isn't doing to well, but I suspect it's the oversized barrel.

Not sure what you are saying? Oh, you mean the sizes from the EWK. .357 to .350. Got it.
I contacted the factory, talking via email to them. Their first reaction is that .3588 didn't sound right. However they will get back to me.

I will show a little ignorance as .3588 sounds odd to me also. Are y'all measuring the lands or the grooves? And what method are y'all using to slug the barrel? Just my thoughts. Since bullets are normally .357 to .359, if the barrel measured .358 on the lands the bullet would be loose and if it measured .358 on the grooves the bullet would not even fit. Or am I just in left field?

I take a bullet that's too big (sometimes it needs to be squashed some to make it fatter) and push it through the barrel.
Thank mic the slug keeping it on the grooves, or the fat part of the slug. Lead bullets larger then the throats and the barrel shoot the best. My Taurus shoots best with .360 bullets, it has .358 throats and a .357 groove.
Haven't figured out the DW yet.
