My first DW is a very early 15-2 which has been my “problem child” ever since. MANY parts are not original including the side plate which doesn’t really fit properly. Purchasing used hands to correct timing issues is always a gamble since it’s impossible to tell how much previous “fitting” has been done to it, but when adding the non original side plate into the equation it becomes quite a puzzle. I ended up using the hand that came with the gun even though it didn’t quite time, and came up with my own method to move the hand closer to the ratchet. By carefully fitting a .003 shim (you’ll notice it’s from a feeler gauge set) into the recessed slot in the side plate the hand now fits more tightly, and the gun times perfectly. Just another idea to try if you’ve run out of options, but care would need to be taken to insure free movement of the hand. I had enough clearance for .003, but probably not for much more.IMG_1804.jpegImage Enlarger

nice solution- glad to hear things are up and running with that one.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Good ole American ingenuity!!!
I like to tinker too. If the tool box is big enough, there's no problem that can't be solved.
