I know about forcing cone erosion. But are there any other signs that the barrel has seen better days?
I only shoot jacketed rounds. But the amount of rounds I put through one of my SuperMags is staggering.
Accuracy is still spot on.
I also noticed that the trend on ebay is turning to a some sellers selling "shrouds only". This sort of concerns me.
And since Dan Wesson is no longer selling "barrels only", I am wondering if I need to spend the money on Barrel assemblies in 2025 to secure barrels for the future?

If you don't already have one, get a bore scope- they're fairly inexpensive nowadays. Throat erosion, fire-cracking, and muzzle erosion will show you what's happening as you continue to put projos down-range. I'd say you can get 20K or better from a revolver barrel but maybe less for some hot supermag rounds. Accuracy and velocities are your tells.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
