This isn't really a reloading question, but I didn't see any better place to put it.Laugh

Have you found your best deals in a store near you, or from buying online? Myself, I've found this online place to be the cheapest so far, although they get back-ordered frequently.

I've also found that these guys have factory loaded ammo for lots of oddball stuff. Their prices aren't necessarily the cheapest, though. http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseCategories.aspx?tabid=3&categoryid=691&categorystring=653***

Charger. check out

Georgia arms.. they were at the gun show last weekend and I picked up some cool ammo about 300 rds worth...44 mag. cowboy loads, and hotter hollow point stuff.. $21 in 50 rd. bags..

$210 for 500 rds of .223 loose in a can, they call it " canned heat" have bought lots from them.. they are good

you can buy in larger bulk lots and save

http://georgia-arms.com/index.aspx

also check out the link I gave you before for RRARMS

http://www.rrarms.com/index.php

BTW... I ONLY buy reloadable brass...and save every single one.. You can buy unloaded brass but you can also buy ammo cheap.. shoot it once and reload it 4-7 times depending on your loads..so  think about that.. I never..ever EVER buy foreign ammo, ( wolf, bear, tiger , mouse, Zvgo.. what ever that weird named one is ) they have Berdan primers and you DO NOT want to mess with that nonsense.. get only Boxer primed ammo.. and brass not steel..brass is more mallable steel is not as mallable and so you have to be careful with it and  you can't, to the best of my knowledge reload it as often as brass.

OK.. don't beat me up here guys... if this was "Road Warrior" times.. sure  go ahead.. load the steel.. load the Berdan primers.. let's eat rat's and syphon gas out of an old wrecked truck... but were not there YET !!!  (After all... "he's" only been in office what 3 weeks.. give him some time !!)

later, 🙂

Thanks for the links.Smile I wish they offered that "canned heat" in revolver ammo, that's a pretty good deal on that stuff.

How can I tell if a brass case is not reloadable? I've noticed that some brass has a crimped groove below the slug. Is this one not reloadable?

Whereas straight, non-crimped shells like this are?

Brass cases made in the USA are reloadable. Stay away from anything that says Berdan-primed. no steel cases and no aluminum cases. The aluminum ones are CCI Blazer brand, they will say on the box, non-reloadable.

Both the ones you showed are reloadable. The crimping groove on the American Eagle is a case cannelure, sometimes used on revolver ammo to help keep the bullet  from being seated deeper in the case when fired in a revolver.

CHARGER.. Imsha is correct... only buy boxer primed bullets...the berdan primers are a major hassle to take out... I know you can do it.. butit ain't easy.. the boxer primers just push out easy..

Also when reloading a "crimped" case you have to resize the cartridge again no big deal. the you re-crimp if your using bullets with a channellure in it. it's fairly simple to do..If I can do it.. so can you..

Another reason to use brass casses is they stretch and re-size more times then steel or alum.. so you get more reloads out of them.

this is all in generally speaking.. there are exceptions to every rule..but your better of to not try and reinvent the reloaduing wheel if you can avoid it..
