(Sorry, My question did not upload with the picture.)
I have an 8 inch heavy vented barrel on a 15-2 and find it a bit more difficult to hand hold than the easy and ubiquitous 6 incher. I often see 10 & 12 inch VH barrels for sale. Are these barrels hand hold able accurate or are they designed more for a good old sandbag rest?
I think the 12 and 15" we're designed for IMHSA and usually used in the Creedmoor position where the shooter laid on his back and rested the barrel on the outside of his calf while propping his head up with his free arm. There were other strange positions involving body parts to steady the barrel. The 10" is more manageable with two hands than the longer ones and is a good length for hunting where a minimum of shots are taken. The longer the barrel generally the greater the bullet speed. It is also fun to show off at the range.
