I'm getting ready to order a 10" .22 magnum  shroud & barrel.. my dilemma  is

Having never held a .22 Mag. 10" before.. do I order it with the heavy under lug or

ask them to leave it off.. I don't need the extra weight.. but don't want the gun

to be out of balance either.. opinions , suggestions , ( facts would be helpful as well )?

thanks,

Wayne

I think the "extra weight" is perceived differently from different people. I generally prefer long barreled guns over shorter ones, so I'm sort of used to the long barrel balance & feel. However, I have yet to own a 10" heavy barrel DW, so I can't really say how much that extra length & weight will feel in the hand.

That's right, another post by me that serves no purpose & answers no questions...sorry about that.rofl

WAYNE, The 8"vh barrel I have on mine is at the edge of being to heavy out front. I don't have big arms but they hold there own. I have 10"v shroulds on .357 and they feel well balaneced and not as front heavy.. Granted , you will not need the extra weight to hold the nose down with a 22mag round.lol2 The mag barrels and shrouds are the same as the regular 22 if you know anyone close enough to check one out. Just out of couriousity , Blue or SS ?? I wonder if they would be cheaper by the pair ?? I don't have a 10" for mine..Drool  Hope this helps

As the owner of a 10" IHMSA .22 Dan Wesson, I suggest you get the regular shroud. My 10" VH is very muzzle heavy and unbalanced for standing, but it was designed for shooting from the creedmore position, so the extra weight is a good thing there.
