I took the new to me 15-2 to the range for the first time on Friday. At 15 yards, a six o'clock hold is perfect. I was extremely impressed with the guns accuracy. I only ran one cylinder of 158gr. Magtech and about a box of CCI Blazer through it, so I expect it to be awesome with quality ammo. The Blazer was more dirty than I remembered, but it's relatively inexpensive in the scheme of things.
The single action trigger pull was nothing short of incredible! I was amazed how sweet it is. Every trigger break was a surprise. However, in double action the trigger was gritty and stagey. Is this typical?
I also found out that what I thought was a huge scratch on the frame is actually the side plate seam. So, the gun is in much better shape than I thought.
I'm thinking about removing the side plate and seeing what's up with the trigger. Maybe there's actually some grit in there. I've had S&W's and Ruger's apart, but never a DW. If it's possible for a tinkerer like me, I'd like to check it out myself before sending it off to a gunsmith for a trigger job. I just want to see if it can be smoothed out first. I just want to clean the innards, not file or alter anything.
Also, there any tricks to remove the side plate so I don't accidentally damage something.
What do you think?
