Hello.....New member here. My mom has a DW .357 Mag Monson, that she is unable to cock or shoot (getting older) and I am getting it from her. I would like to pay her what it is worth. It functions perfect and it looks a lot better than the pictures show, although you can see where it has been abrasively cleaned. You have to really look at it in person to see it. It really shows with the camera. With the research I've done, I believe it's a 15-2 with a 2.5" barrel. Any idea what it's worth? Thanks.

Pictures would help with the estimate, but where I live in W Kentucky, they are going around $600 or so. Depends on who has it and how badly someone wants it. A 15-2 is pretty common around here.

Welcome, I think Steve gave you a good number to pay your mom. Value varies with condition but it's you mom after all and $600 seems fair to me. This site is the best place to come for info/advice about your DW revolver. Lots of knowledgeable and friendly people to help you with questions.

It had a second barrel, but the second barrel was sold over 20 years ago, so I'm guessing it's not a fixed barrel.

I do not believe Monson made any fixed barrels. Only Palmer guns had the fixed barrel available! I think a bit lower than $600 for a in family trnsfer and gun condition. (looks a bit rough with some plum on frame and cylinder is marked up) You should get the mother price!

My understanding is that all Heavy shrouds have the underlug all the way to the muzzle and fixed barrels have the bevel cut at the muzzle.
So my question should have been; "Why is there a bevel cut at the muzzle?"

It’s a Standard (non-vented) 2.5” barrel assembly. Slightly different bevel cut. The fixed barrel shroud has a shorter more curved cut.
