Just picked up a 15-2 for good price with a 10" barrel and a 4". It is in pretty good shape except it has different bluing on the frame. Part is bright blue and part the purple looking blue. Was this cobbled together from different frames or could it have been made that way? It is a Monson. The frame is in excellent condition other than that. Thanks

Without a picture, I'm going to guess you have one of the frames which is commonly called "Barney". The side plate is probably a normal blue and the main frame is purple-ish blue; correct? Here's a thread and a few threads within it for information.

Butch, My frame has done the same thing. part still deep dark blue and part of it starting to go purplish. I guarantee mine is not pieced together. I got my 15-2 new in 78'. I have seen pics and this link Ron put up where the guns are purpling or as some call it Barney... Some my not like it, but it don't bother me at all. She's still a champ at the range and in the field.

bottom of the write box, click attachment, new box opens further down, then click add files at bottom there. Then an explorer box will open, navigate to the pic and select by dbl click or single click and then open. then at bottom of the add files box click start upload. may have to resize the photos. I found that sizing to 380 - 450 seems the best for my pics. That may depend on the size your camera puts out..
Now this,is if using PC.

Butch- many of the "Barney" guns are much treasured by their owners, this occurs in other brands as well, most commonly Rugers.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks. I am relieved that this is not so abnormal as I first feared. Still haven't figured out how to post a picture but will try to figure it out. I appreciate the expertise here very much.
Seen plenty of examples and nothing wrong at all. Some purple more than others. It's just the maturing of the blueing as I understand it.

Everyone of my Norwich blued guns has some degree of 'Barney' and it does not affect the gun one bit. In fact, it adds a bit of uniqueness and character IMO.
Enjoy yours.
