What's the difference cause they look the same to me.  I thought mine was a 715 at first then a 15-2vh and now I just plain don't know.

The "7" 15 is stainless steel & is the prefix for all stainless models e.g: 722 is a stainless steel model 22.

As rwsem indicated. It is a 15-2 VH but the 7 denotes Stainless Steel.

Thanks,  so mine being stainless with the heavy shroud is a 715?   How do you figure out the manufacture date?  Mine was made in Monson Mass. and serial # starts with a SD.  I've seen various serial numbers on here and seems DW had no real clear system.

i believe  the sd serial started about 1982  so from there it will depend on the # itself. Someone correct me if im wrong.

What are the #'s following  start?

DW did have a system S denotes Stainless, the D is 357.  The year is tougher to nail down but look at the SN registry to get an idea of year.  The barrel could be a standard, vent, or vent heavy... kinda need a picture to tell you for certain.

Yours was made in 1986

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
