Welcome to the forum and good luck with your acquisition. A 15" is definitely prized by a lot of collectors, but the actual utility of it is somewhat of another story realistically. I think the most popular use is to acquire bragging rights at the range. If you read the 60-90 estimates on the internet, please post the link so that we can read it but my first thought is it's a bunch of bologna. I don't think anyone knows how many of the 15' barrels were turned out from the factories and to put an estimate of 60-90 on it is just plain ignorant. But, then again I've been wrong plenty of times also so please post the info. so we can all take a peer at it.

thanks for the welcome.
Yea i should have saved that link but im sure ill come across it again, i have a habit of pulling up a bunch tabs up and not saving the interesting ones. Yea i thought that number of barrels made seemed very low and made up. That 15" is not practical at all but you nailed about bragging about it.
So im wondering with that barrel being so rare is there set value on it or is it sold for what the owner wants out of it? (hope that made sense)

These days a 15" barrel assembly can often go for $5-700 on the auction sites, sometimes more depending on condition & who is bidding that week. The gun minus the barrel I would probably say $250-400 in fair to excellent condition.
15-2's are the most common DW's so the prices usually remain fairly low.

wow that was a quick offer haha. thanks for the offer but i think ill hold onto it for now. So i take it that 233 wouldnt be a bad price then?
The last one that I saw sold at auction went for $750. Buy it!
If the bluing isn't great you can send it to Blue Ridge Bluing for a complete redo. I just sent of a 6" shroud for a DW 22LR. It's going to cost $75 to get it re-blued. Mark over at Blue Ridge used to do the bluing for DW.

Man what a haul! 6, 10, 12, and 15 - what a beautiful set. Those are some of the most difficult and most expensive barrels to come by. All you need is to pick up a 2 and a 4 and you'll have a pack that is as good as any out there. What a great start to a collection - you've got about $2k worth of iron right there. Congratulations.
