I have two. I'm still not overly familiar with the nomenclature of the DWs, but one is nickel-plated 15-2V15 (I think) with a standard shroud; the other has a 15-2VH15 with a certificate dated January 15, 1979 stating “This letter is to certify that Dan Wesson Arms Model 15-2VH15, with “CB ARMCHROM finish”, serial # 161599 is the first chrome finish 15” firearm to be shipped.” Both have been shot about a dozen times, but no pictures of either of them being fired.

I’ve been on hiatus from work for the past few weeks and decided to play with some of the toys I have been collecting over the years. I’ve started a new collecting hobby so I have been spending a lot of time with that. It is something with which I am pretty unfamiliar so it is taking some time to research. I’ve also decided to sell some of my guns to make some space, so in the processing of shooting I am trying to decide which I can live without. It’s a hard decision. I keep putting the names of my kids on the list but my wife makes me scratch them off. I am going to post to the Forum all of the DW models I have prior to using Gun broker or one of the other sites. If you have any interest, you can send me a PM and I will send you pictures and we can discuss a price privately. BTW, thanks for asking about my whereabouts.
Still sunny and warm in FLA.

I don't recall hearing of ARMCHROM finish before, so I assume that's nickel too? Your picture above is the first I've seen of a nickel 15" gun, that's pretty neat.
BTW, that's a standard non-vented shroud. The "vents" are the thin slots in the top rib. So your model should simply be 15-2 15.
The other one you're describing as 15-2VH15 should look like a longer version of this...

From what I have been able to find, Armchrom is a stratch and rust resistant chrome plating used primarily for kitchen/bathroom fixtures and metal surfaces in high traffic areas prone to moisture and humidity - for what it's worth.
And thanks for the insight on the correct model number for the 15" in the picture.

Well, I went through all of my safes and pulled the DWs to layout and look at. I inventory each safe individually on occasion, but don't pull any one brand or caliber together. So, I ended up with a count of 26 Dan Wesson’s in a variety of flavors and configurations. Now, one would think with that many from which to choose a decision could easily be made on which two or three you could live without. Realistically, I imagine I could live without any of the guns I have with the exception being the one I would have in my pocket if ever needed. However, a willingness to part with one is a different story. As I wiped each down with a clean rag, caressing and talking softly to it, each went in the pile of the ones I wanted to keep. Go figure. I am once again starting to sort through the group, this time deciding parting with a couple or three is much like selling a good dog. If it is going to a good home where it is well cared for and appreciated, it is a good deed to pass along some history and the legacy of one of the best designed and versatile handguns ever built. All the wining and sobbing out of the way – I still am determined to list these with the hope that someone will want to enjoy the pleasure of owning their first Dan Wesson or expanding their treasured collection.

I can identify with that feeling. Although I'm about 10 DW's behind you, I feel that each one of them is a member of the family. Because all but one of them are duplicates/twins, that probably has a lot to do with it.
I put one of my SM's up for sale a few months ago when I was hard up...I ended up pulling the ad two agonizing days later. I told those potential buyers that I would probably come to my senses, so they had their chance.
FDWC, I must say that if I had the means today, I would be PM-ing you already with some serious offers on what I currently know is in your collection. Those guns would definitely go to a happy home. And that's not even taking into consideration what I don't know you have...
...
...yep.

I think it's only fair that the admin gets first shot at items for sale!
I would agree with Jody, at least this time! FDWC, what the rest of don't know won't hurt us! Jody if you come up with a few new scores the factor may come in to play!
Not sure I could part with the DW's or clones, though have thought about it a few times! Keep us posted, and please wait till after April 15th!!!!!!

I would be interested in seeing how the rifles are configured. If they are converted pistols with barrels shorter than 16" a NFA Tax Stamp would be required. I built a bunch of AR pistols thinking they would be less hassle than doing the paperwork and getting the tax stamp. If you think the DW 15" is a monster, you should try shooting one of those 5 pound beasts. But, if you do convert a pistol to a rifle with a short barrel (and attain the tax stamp), a letter to the BATF&E (NFA Branch) stating you changed the configuration back to a pistol is all that is required. The bad news (not real bad) is that if you want to go back again to the rifle configuration, all of the paperwork and anothe $200 tax stamp is required.

Yeah I saw that just wondering how they handle. I would love to see a video of someone shooting one before I commit to buying one.
The 10, 12 and 15" barrels were designed for the handgun silhouette market. The guns are shot in the creedmoor position, where the weight of the gun is supported by the leg. Barrels that long are very muzzle-heavy and awkward to shoot from a standing, one or two-handed hold with no support.
