Hello everyone -

My first post.  A local gun shop has a nice looking DW Monson .22 with a 6" barrel.  Gun appears ok, bluing is 90%+, clean.  Original grips, no other barrels, etc.

They're asking $800.  Fair value, or ?  Make off candidate?

Thanks for any input -

There’s 3 22LR for sale on GB right now. 2 of them have a starting bid requirement set at $795.  Those 2 appear to be in similar condition to the one you’re considering at your LGS.  The 3rd pistol has scratch damages and it has start bid at $589.  Of course, this doesn’t mean a ton cuz maybe they will not sell.  IMHO I think the 22LR your looking at is priced slightly high.  Maybe try offering $700-750?  By buying locally you avoid paying GB’s 1% fee, the cost of shipping, and FFL xfer fees.

I would offer 650 cash and explain that you are still going to have to buy a tool for the barrel nut and a gap gauge. That is still a premium price for the seller.

It is possible they are selling on consignment also. Higher sale price = more $ for the shop.

Here it is, brought it home from LGS last Friday.  It also has the original DW gun rug, instructions and brochure.  Printed materials copy-written in 1979, so presume that the revolver is around that year or maybe newer.
