Well hope someone can help me out on this one . I have had this Dan Wesson 22LR in my safe for a few years didn't think much about it until I looked at seral number 22S002013 it has a satin finish on it never seen one like it . Can anyone tell me if they have seen a 22LR with a satin black finish .

My guess is an original stainless that has an aftermarket finish like duracote or cerekote. Stop by the new members section and give us an intro. Pictures would help...

Ron if it had an aftermarket finish the seral number and all the information on the side plate would be hard to reed this one is very crisp even on the barrel. I have had this for a few years and didn't shoot it much, don't get me wrong I love my Dan Wesson . I have had eye problems and can't see very good so I don't shoot much. This is a pistol pac I have the 4" 6" 8" barrels and the patch , belt buckle, all the tools and black case all the barrels is a black satin finish all the lettering is clear and crisp on all of them. I'm not very good sending pictures but I will try to post some. In the seral number 22S does the S after 22 mean stainless.

Ron if it had been now stainless would it have a 7 to start out the seral number. The seral number is 22S00201X. I don't know what the S means after the 22. I though that the first seral numbered 22 was seral number 2001 so would that make my a very early 22.

Yes, the 'S' denotes stainless.
The only matte/satin black finish I recall is the Yukon finish that was applied to the Alaskan Guide Series (7445) models. That doesn't mean someone couldn't have special ordered it or that the factory may have done a small run of some sort. I'm guessing there's no box/ presentation case?

No, the model number would start with a 7 (eg 722).

Stinger the case has no sticker . I know what they look like I have a 357 -2 HV in the pistol pac with the sticker. I think this was a stainless ordered with the black matte finish it is a very nice 22 and I like the finish on it. I will try and post some pictures today.
