Have read through earlier posts on the ammo subject but did not see much on the Winchester Silvertip and WinClean rounds.
I recently picked up a box of 145gr Silvertips and two boxes of 125gr WinClean at a gunshow. Price was good enough that I couldn't pass them up. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of how well these rounds perform in the 6" DW 15?
I've read about the supposed S&W barrel and frame erosion issues with 125gr Winchester ammo. Have the DW's had any similar problems?
Would the 145gr Silvertip be a good defensive round?
Would also like to more about what you are using, and why, for practice and plinking. Same for defensive and coyoting, also.

For the longest time I used Winchester White box or the commercial reloads at the range in .357. I have tried MagTech and don't care for it, too many FTF's, but no other ammo had this problem, maybe hard primers.
There should be minimal problem with shooting 110's on occasion. If it's a steady diet, watch for a flame cutting on the underside of the top strap above the forcing cone. Of course, the barrel is easily replaced at some point in time if needed.
145 gr Silvertips should be a good defensive load, I still use Silvertips in 9mm for the House Gun, although I am planning to change over to Hornady Critical Defense for this in the near future
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The Win silvertips shoot great out of my DW 6" barrel and the The Wincleans shoot
the best in an after market EWK barrel. On the "frame erosion" question if your
talking about that little etch line right above the barrel on the bottom of the top
strap don't worry about it.
No matter the maker if you shoot light high velocity bullets or lots of rounds
you will get that. I have it on all my Dan's , Smiths, Taurus's and Ruger. It cuts alittle
and then gets no worse. Go to a gun show and crack open a couple hundred used
revolvers and see how many have that same little line right above the barrel.

The problem with the S&W forcing cones was only on the K frame guns and only after a lot of 110 and 125 mag loads. A steady diet of high velocity loads will wear out any gin. The average shooter will not shoot that many in the life of the gun. Don't let it worry you.
