I picked up a 357 Pistol Pack through the Manchester Firing Line Range, Manchester, NH, where my Son works. I believe it's a model 15-2, due to the serial numbering, 357 B0031xx.
The case that came with is bad, black with broken latches and blue foam inserts, instead of the cloth covered padding.
But for $550, thought was pretty good deal...

You did great with that price, even if the case is in poor condition. The foam inserts are covered by cloth so someone probably tossed the cloth at some point.

Found paper work inside to top cover of case.
The sales receipt is dated May 26, 1988, model 15-2, sold for $580.

Congrats on your cool find!
It sounds like you're describing the "American Tourister" case style...
These did originally come with blue foam inside & no cloth. The one below is missing the extra front sight blades & has an incorrect grip medallion for the year, but is otherwise factory original.
