I am currently building a Dan Wesson 15 that has a 6" H.V. shroud and barrel.

My project goal and obstacles are listed below. I would appreciate any and all help with making this pistol complete.

Goals

1.Black parkerized: glass bead blast, parkerized and hot blue dip.

2.New wood grips: Hogue Goncalo No Finger Groove Model: 57210

3.Stainless hardware: Side cover screws(damaged), ejector rod(missing), grip screw and barrel nut (EWK)

4. New rear target sight. missing

5. Yellow front sight insert.

6. Ceramic chrome coating on new barrel tube (EWK).

Obstacles!! Help!!

 1. Top side cover allen head is stripped, how do I remove it? Any tricks of the trade out there? where the key goes in not the threads(at least I don't think so)

 2. Ejector rod is missing can one be sourced from another revolver that will work with our Dan Wessons? Stainless prefered. is it right or left hand threaded?

 3. Rear target sight is missing. Where can I find a replacement? Midwayusa shows one but says its discontinued. I read in another post somewhere that a CZ rep told a Dan Wesson customer that they are no longer available but had heard that Ruger Blackhawks rear sights work on some of the Dan Wessons..Is that true? Has any one heard that before?

I really need the above items to finish this build. As soon as the screw is out I am stripping it and sending the pistol out for refinishing. It is currently my major hang up.

Any suggestions? Plus Ill tune up the inside as soon as I get into it.

Thanx-

Mark

find the closest fitting allen wrench you can --may even be metric...  Put some rosin, baking soda, etc into the hole to help the allen grip...

Black-hawk sights will fit I understand.

Just the other day someone posted that DW had replacement sights back in stock.

Allen wrenches are often cheap junk, be sure you have a quality wrench and be careful, you may even get the next size up and file a slight taper until it drives in. Of course be careful and don't break the screw as that will &$#*.  A little pentrant before hand may help.

You might try a little pencil butane torch to heat the allen head bolt up. I have used this on scope base bolts before. Heat ONLY the bolt so you don't damage the blueing.

As Blacktop stated DW in Norwich has a new source for rear sights.  I got a confirmation of this earlier this week.  Also as an FYI I will be receiving the latest price list in the mail and will get that scanned and posted once it arrives.

Hi Jody,

Do you have contact info for DW of Norwich? I also saw an article from July 2011 saying CZ DW was going to be producing the 15-2 again, but only available in stainless steel. Has anyone heard that? I would love a new DW in stainless.

Jody, I ordered a shroud for one of my guns recently and they quoted the price exactly the same as the 2009 prices posted on this site.  Hopefully they don't raise them too much.

Reports are there is a delay and it will be mid to late 2012 before

we see any new models released from captivity.

Shootist357, Got the revolver apart. Thanks for the tip.

Going to Parkerize and then blue over it myself. I've sent the barrel tube, trigger and hammer to a local auto coatings shop. They are ceramic coating them with a hi-temp ceramic coating that looks almost like a cross between polished chrome and polished aluminum. Its a coating for turbo manifolds, turns out really nice. I think it will provide a nice contrast to the black park job on the Dan. I had a Marlin Model 60 done by them a few years ago.

Yeah, I know..this thread is worthless without pics..Ive got the before pics, just need the afters.
