I purchased a new 357 Super Mag on Gunbroker. I've attached two photos. It looks good and works well. A couple of questions:
It's a well-used stainless steel gun. There is no apparent flame cutting. Does stainless steel hold up better than regular steel as faras flame cutting is concerned?
I shot about 50 rounds thru it. It took about 15 minutes with a brass brush and No. 9 to clean off the front of the cylinder. Is there some miracle compound to help with this cleaning?
What's the best place to get 357 SM ammo?
Thanks in advance for you help.

I don't know about the stainless steel.
To clean the face of the cylinder on my stainless guns I use JB non-imbedding bore cleaning compound. (I have no interest in the company.) I put some Butch's Bore Shine on the cylinder then some JB and scrub with an old tooth brush. Takes some time but cleans everything off. For what it's worth.

Nice! Congrats on the new to you SM! FWIW here is a link regarding getting the carbon rings off the front of a bright stainless Colt cylinder...

I would highly encourage you to consider reloading for that revolver. Yes you can buy ammo that will work well but you can reload your own and end up with some very accurate tailor made loads that will defy your ablities as a handgunner.
There are so many bullets available to the handloader that will make the load possibilities and applications hard to exaust. Plus you will never have to wonder where your next box of ammo will be found.
Hang on to your fired brass. You will be glad you did.

I too would suggest considering reloading for the .357 max, I bought a .357 Supermag last August. Ordered some ammo from Reed's, waited 2 months and never got any so I canceled the order and bought a reloader and got into it myself. Midway sometimes has brass, though they are out of stock now and sometimes they have loaded ammo too.

I reloaded many years ago, and a little over a year ago, I got restarted. In addition to being able to actually have ammunition whenever I want it (in some very standard and generic calibers), I'm just having fun rolling my own. Consider giving reloading a try.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
