I was shooting a recently purchased (used - pre 1980) .357 revolver when I noticed that the sideplate had obvioulsy cracked and the cylinder post had broken/fallen off. Any suggestions on where I can buy a new plate?
I have a email request in to CZ, and am following up with leads poted in the parts section of the forum.
Is this a common failure? I suspect the prior owner cracked it by tightening the screws down before the plate was properly seated. - EB
I had a used model 15 from 1980 til 1992 and fired many rounds, mainly handloads that were specified for Ruger and T/C's only and never had that problem. I removed the side plate numerous times to clean the trigger area and change out the springs. The post coming off was a problem on some of the earlier models. I hope CZ can help you out, you might also post an the want list to see if any fellow bloggers have spare parts.

When I first saw this thread I was confused (a common state for me). If the part referred to is the little tab at the leading edge of the sideplate that stops the cylinder from moving rearward during ejection, I had always thought that this was a separate part on the Model 15. I have had problems on both my 15's with this wiggling loose, and needing to be tapped back into place. The 2008 Price List just posted lists a "Cylinder Stop" for $17.00. Is this the same thing? I know that every parts diagram shows this as an integral part of the sideplate, but no parts diagram shows something called a "Cylinder Stop".

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
