are any of the cylinders of Dan Wessons specifically 38 spec ONLY? Or will 357 mag fit in any of the cylinders ? I have purchased DW's with the barrel shroud labeled 38 spec but they have always had cylinders that would fit and fire 357 magnum...
Are there cylinders that only 38 spec will fit? and if so are they marked ? or is the only way to tell is by fitting a shell?
thanks
sam

I can half answer your question. Yes DW made 38 special only revolvers. I believe the model 8 and 9 as well as the 708 and 709. Also the action cup and PPC guns too. As far as how they are marked other than the shroud, I do not know.
And don't forget the Lil Dan.
P.S. Some later models of Dan's had the caliber leading the serial #.

The .38 spl cylinders are not marked, the simplest way to tell them from a .357 cylinder is to slide a cartridge in.
Prior to the Model 8's & 9's mentioned above, there were also .38 Spl's & .357's made on the Model 14 Porkchop frame. There may have been some M15's as well, but I haven't seen any as of yet. Here's a pair of my M14's in .38 & .357...
