Hoping someone can help me on my newly acquired 41. Upon inspection I noticed the cylinder locks up on the same chamber every time I try to cycle the action.. Happens both in single and double action. I made sure the barrel clearance and the grip screw were no too tight but the condition still exists. I haven't heard back from the seller yet and I haven't completed the transfer. Looking for any suggestions on repair or is this better off left for the factory to repair?

What would be a fair allowance for me to ask the seller since the auction stated it was is fine mechanical condition?

Thanks for any help!

Check the cylinder gap at all chambers. DW's were notorious at having cylinder faces not squared perfectly. Look for the chamber that has the tightest clearance and set your cylinder gap to that chamber.

A not uncommon situation with DW revolvers. The great majority of standard production revolvers are gapped at up to .006" to allow for production tolerances and the thermal expansion of a hot barrel.

And yes, there are production tolerances in DW cylinders as well. setting to a slightly loose .002 on the tightest chamber normally works pretty well.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I removed the barrel and still same issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

Glad that you removed the barrel.  So, is the bolt locking into the cylinder notch on that cylinder? If not, then the hand or the ejector is most likely worn.  A trip to Dan Wesson would fix things up.  I haven't had any work of that type done but I'd ask for (200) off...  of course that depends on what you paid.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I will check closer tomorrow when I go back to my dealer. Thanks much for the advice.
