Has anyone ever seen a fixed barrel in a 44? I have seen them in the .357 but not in a large frame. Always something new.

That poor orphan needs a good home and one heck of a bath. Its just a shame to see a fine gun in that shape. I remember seeing them listed long ago in a Guns and Ammo annual. Along with the "Little Dan" and the FB .357 I wonder what the reserve is myself. I do remember they were cheaper than the standard "Swap" barrel guns.

I couldn't agree more. That poor thing needs a good scrubbing and a good home!
The 44/744 FB is certainly one of the more elusive FB's in the DW lineup, but not nearly reaching the "unobtanieum" stature as the rarely seen in captivity FB Compensated guns have been.
Aside from this gun's obvious trigger guard rot & the zit where someone drilled a scope hole in the shroud, I think it looks like a good shooter from here. If bidding stayed reasonable, I'd certainly pounce...
