I owned a DW 44 mag years ago and would like another one.
Can you shoot 44 mag and 44 spl in a 445? DW web info say yes but the manual for the 445 say its not recommended.
If you can't or shouldn't shoot other 44's in it, is there load data on reduced loads for the 445?
I found a store that still has a new Alaskan Guide 445 4″ + comp barrel. For long range shooting I think a longer barrel would be needed. As the Alaskan Guide has a black finish, is there longer shrouds with the same black finish? I would like a SS DW but the black finish is ok. Don't like the blued ones. The store also had a new SS 445 but the owner couldn't find it, will check back later.
Are there still SS 445 barrels and shrouds for the 445? DW catalog show them but are they in stock? Are there vendors selling them?

Landtoy80,
to the forum. Ask and ye shall be answered. Below is the link for the 2009 price list for parts from CZ in Norwich, NY. It looks like you can get up to a 10" barrel assembly for your 445 SM. I have one with a 3" Comp VH, 8" slotted V, and 8" CompVH shroud in SS. They make them to order I believe. Doubt they'd have any in stock. Drop bt the new members thread and give us an intro.

landtoy- I'm no expert on the 445, but normally if the manufacturer recommends not firing a reduced load it's because of a shorter overall cartridge lenght contributing to carbon buildup in the cylinder. Others more expert on this will provide better info, I'm sure.
BTW-If you have leads on TWO 445's, and only want one, someone here will probably be perstering you for a contact, especially if an AGS is available
Welcome to the Nuthouse.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

landtoy80,
to the forum, and yes you can shoot 44 mag and special out of the 445SM. As instructed by the manual it is not recommended because many do not clean the cylinder well enough to cause 445 case insertion as a problem after firing the shorter rounds. I have fired 44 magnums out of mine and the accuracy is nothing to write home about. The bullet must travel further before reaching the forcing cone and therefore does not perform as well as the intended round. I think that is why the manufacturere suggests only the 455SM round in the revolver. If you pass on teh 445Alaskan, as mentioned above send me a PM about the place and location of it.

Went and bought the AGS and yes SHOOT, its too ugly to post a pic here .
You don't want to know how much I paid for it….
OK, maybe you do…
$831.99 and yes it is new. He doesn't know where the other 7445 DW revolver went.
The test brass shows 12/1/05 so its been in the back room for some time.
DW said they still make barrels for the 445.
“Yes, we do make the barrel assemblies to match the Alaskan Guide .
445 supermag. We offer the 4″@ $257.00, 6″@ $304.00, 8″ @ $374.00
and the 10″ @ $433.00. The AGS finish will be an extra $45.00 added “
So what barrel do I want for long range shooting?
<<<$1200 on Gunbroker>>>
Thats tempting, I could sell it and use the extra cash to get a SS one with extra barrel…
Where does the scope mounted to on the 445? Is it the barrel or receiver. This AGS has no screws pre drilled into either the barrel or barrel.

If you can find any 44 loads for unique, they'll work in 445 cases as Unique touches off pretty easy. I worked up 38 and 357mag loads to use in my 357max cases and even my wife shoots it and she won't shoot a 357mag. Congrats on your score and you might keep in touch with that dealer and see if he finds the other. I've not yet seen a used 445 go for less than $1000 on any of the auction sites.
