I posted this in general discussion probably should be here. My cylinder shows slight ring on the back. When cylinder is open some up and down movement on ejector rod.  Does this need replaced.  Also about .006 end shake should I shim the cylinder.  Thanks

I killed the other thread.

Regarding up & down movement with the cylinder open, I guess it depends on how MUCH movement you're talking about. I just grabbed three of my DW's, to see. Two have some movement, the third does not.

Can you show us a photo of the ring on the cylinder?

I haven't figured out how to post pics. It's a fine line where the cylinder rubs on the frame when open. I can see the cylinder tilts down in the back when open. If I push the ejector rod all the way back like ejecting brass it is tighter.  That's why I wondered if the rod was worn. Also is .006 to much end shake. Thank you.

The crane may be spung a little or the ejector rod bent. Do you lock the action up  by holding the hammer back while you pull the trigger to check endshake? If so then 6 thousandths end shake seems a lot. IMHO.

Ole dog thanks for the reply. On end shake if I measure b c gap with cylinder pushed forward .oo6. Pushed back .012. If I hold hammer back and hold trigger still .012. I noticed if I hold cylinder open and hold to the light I can see back of cylinder touching the frame . When I move it up and down most of the movement is in the crane to frame fit

It there a way to tighten this up. Thanks again

Cylinder shims are needed to fix the end shake. They are usually available on eBay. There is a company that sells them but the name slips my friable (Leaky) brain. The cylinder gap for a large frame should be 2 thousandths of an inch, not 6. You are getting 12 thousandths because you are pushing the dedent ball back. It should be 8 thousandths if you do that. The gun is safe to fire but may spit a little propellant through the BC gap. And it may cause the rear of the cylinder to rub the frame.
