Wanted to post some pics of a DW pp I found among my dads estate accumulation. I believe its a model 709v in .38 special. Its complete except for the belt buckle. This isn't an heirloom, just part of 400-500 guns he had stuck in closets around the house. Near as I can tell, he bought it from a pawn shop owner with cash flow problems
around 1998 or 99. Dad never shot it, nor have I. The label on the case has the serial# written in what looks like a black sharpy, as is the model number. I looked around different sites, gunbroker etc. but haven't seen this model listed online. I'm curious as to how common this model is and an approximate value. The LGS guy tells me the.38's aren't very salable from his aspect, but I'm reasonably sure its worth more than his $300 offer. The serial# is 38S00129x. And thank you Jody Baldwin for suggesting a newer browser, that was the reason i couldn't post.

Welcome to the DWF and for posting that ppac. It is totally awesome- I've been watching for one of those for years... You truly have a jewel of the DW Family of firearms! The value depends on the buyer, a fella that is a collector would pay a good bit. A baseline would be $1300-ish.

Oh my!! Welcome Terry. Not sure if you introduced yourself when you joined. If so, welcome again brother.
WOW! That is a beauty of a pistol pac. Just WOW! I hope you laughed in the LGS's face when he offered $300.
You have made my day with this group of photos. WOW!!

Welcome to the forum from PA. Being that it is .38 Special only, that is quite a rare pac! I would agree with Ron's ballpark value, it would surely bring well over $1000 on Gunbroker and you never know how much higher it could go. Its condition looks outstanding also.

Here are some 'benchmark" dates that might help:
Stainless guns went into production in August 1982
Operations moved to Palmer MA in 1992. There is a very mixed history on the origin of guns through the late '80's and early '90's
This is a unique and rarely seen seen item, it should sell well over $1000, but it will require a very specialized buyer to maximize the selling price
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That is a beauty. You've already heard they are scarce but I don't think they said it loud enough. IT IS RARE. I bet it would go for close to $2000 in Gunbroker. That fellow at the LGS is not a person you want to deal with. I would find a not so local shop and not even buy ammo from him. I certainly would not let him near your late fathers "accumulation"

Very nice!
Any gun dealer/broker worth his/her salt would know that a pistol pack is worth more than $300. Simply selling the barrel/shroud assemblies individually would bring more than $300. Last I heard the case would bring more than $100 on ebay.
Regardless, please don't part it out. If your desire is to sell it, please pass it on to someone here on the forum that will have a great appreciation for it. Or keep it and pass it on to your kids
400 to 500 guns stuffed away in closets. Slightly better than stacks of old newspapers...
Edit: Your PP serial number is just a little higher than my .38 Special Action Cup, 38S00127x.

Great looking pac! I along with a bunch of others on here would LOVE to own that pac so consider offering it for sale on the site, it will sell no problem.
