I am looking at purchasing a 715, the owner believes it was manufactured in 92 or 93, But it is marked Monson, MA. I thought they were in Palmer Ma during those years. The SN is  357S0051XX. Bottom line is I am trying to determine a fair value. It has a 6 in barrel and no other accessories. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If in good condition and in my neck of the woods, that's at least a $750 gun.

I've rarely seen them for under $700 but as high as $900 wouldn't be super uncommon, even without extras.

I appreciate the help with price. From what I have been able to read the 715's were made in Palmer and New York. Were they also made in Monson. The answer seems obvious since I am looking at one but I am not sure of the significance of that.

Personally, I'd stay under $700..  they're not uncommon.  .

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I have a 715 VH from Monson. It would bring about $750-800 in my area.

You can buy them on Gunbroker for 650 to 750. Some with tool, box, etc. Many are priced higher but I doubt they are selling or the buyers negotiate a lower price. Your gun was probably made in 1986 or soon after in Monson.

Just picked up a 6" 715 here in Canada, definitely a Monson, a later ser # SD0107**.

Rear sight is a little loose otherwise looking good so far, if it's half as good as my .357 Supermag was I'll be very happy. got rid when IHMSA ended here.

My 715 is a Monson gun, and I only paid $269 in 2006 for it, my first, and best GB deal ever. In the box, near mint condition, with (the crappy plastic) wrench, THREE grips, rubber, finger grooved wood, and the normal stock grip, a bunch of internal parts and springs, and the original sales receipt. Nobody else bid on it, and I never understood why it was so ignored as lesser ones were going for much higher prices. Maybe the custom sights scared them off? Shouldn't have, they are stronger than the original ones, by far.

Custom sights? From the picture, they look like original sights, same as I have on most of my DWs.

Nope, look at the front blade, it's reversed, with no insert, and the rear sight is different than any other DW revolver's I've ever seen. The rear sight is about as solid a hunk of steel as can be and still be adjustable. Much more robust than the stock ones all my other 15-2's I've had, or friend's 715's. I've never seen DW sights like mine on another gun, except for a gun on sale on GB about 10 years ago. I was very tempted to grab it up, but it was a lot more than $269.

To me they look like just ordinary DW target sights, both front and rear?

The front sight that you call reversed is the standard front sight on the DW silhouette guns. Same as the rear sight. The colored-insert ramp front sights are next to worthless for silhouette shooting. Is this what the rear sight looks like?

Riverman, your gun is a fairly early 715 from Monson. The SD serial number was before the 357 notation. Hemiram, your front sight is a factory Patridge sight. They come in different heights and widths for the longer barrel lengths, 10 to 15 inches. They can be used on shorter barrels too. Some Dans have Millett rear sights. They are aftermarket though. Except they were factory on Norwich guns.
