There was a period (mostly during Monson) when DW used letter designations for the models preceding the serial numbers. SA was a 722 BA was a 22. Both of my 722's begin SA, however, my 722M begins with 22MS; the M is for magnum and the S is for stainless. As I recall, My 715 begins SD and my 744 starts with SB and my 741 begins SC. I may have the letters mixed up here because I didn't go to the safe to look, but you get the picture.
At another point in time your serial number could have begun with 22S and if the gun was blue, 22B.
There are many SN variations on DW's.
