http://www.gunsinternational.com/Dan-Wesson-Model-7414-414-SuperMag.cfm?gun_id=100264797

Found this listing on GI and noticed there is a slot on the bottom of the shroud?  I have never seen this before and was wondering if this was to keep the weight down???

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light into that pice of metal:)

That right there is money. Very rare Norwich with the seldom seen bottom slot .414 SM. I bet everyone is looking it up and checking their savings. Big price, but I've seen bidding wars on some .445s that got close to 2K. Whole lot of money but a very rare and desirable pistol.

The underside slot was indeed done to make weight limits.

Not worth it to me, but it will sell at that price most likely.

edit to add: I just saw that it's a Cabela gun, it will sell at that price even if they have to wait for Hell to Freeze Over!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

She's gone.  Even though I already have a Norwich 414, I would have gone for the SRS.  Somebody's got a rare one there.

That was a bargain as 7414's go.  Someone got a gtdw even at that price for a model so scarce.

Well...after hearing that the bottom slot was from Dan Wesson I called and bought her.  They did come off the price $100 though.  Now its time to sell a few things for  funding:)

Will post some pics and hopefully end up in the 2013 calendar.

Thanks for the wishes on the purchase.  Now all I have to do is tell my wife:)   But the salesperson said, "its better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission."

Ha, forgiveness is the way to go. Definitely a gtdw and it's an SRS to boot. The Bomar sight is worth it weight in gold even at today's gold prices. You scored BIG on that one! Now we need some cool-pics please.

Nice buy, definitely a good deal on a very rare model. I think the money you spent on it is a better investment than you could get at any bank. Looking forward to some cool-pics

Congratulations on that terrific investment.  Just explain to your wife that you just earned about $1,000.00 by purchasing the revolver, that may help.  You must invest to earn interest..  You will not regret the short term pain for the long term gain.

I'm really glad to see that the 7414 SRS came home to DWF. Depending on the specifics of you "domestic situation", one alternative might be "ignorance is bliss". There have been a fair number of stealth guns that came and went here. This one, however, is a pretty big rock that would absolutely get stumbled across, with major complicationswhippingwifewhippingwife

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
