Hi Guys:
I know we've had the discussion about dual shroud locating pins on 741/41's. I would like to know if anyone has a 741/41 with only 1 locating pin for the shroud. Please let me know if you do and the location of manufacture.
The problem: I just received a new BA741VH4 from DW. Unfortunately it only has a hole for 1 locating pin and my frame has 2 pins.
I'd just like to know if anyone has a 1-pin 41 and where it was made. Perhaps the 2 pin guns are all Monson???
I'm sure I'll have no problem getting DW to fix the shroud; I'm just curious about this anomaly.
Thanks,
-Mike

Well, I'm truly disappointed in DW.
It's one thing to refuse to do something because they don't want to do it. It's quite another to assume that I'm stupid enough to believe that they "can't do it because they're all drilled differently".
What a load of hogswallop! And while I know that we don't amount to a row of pins as far as their customer base is concerned, it's just wrong to insult a customer regardless of how much or how little the customer is spending. I guess when you've got someone locked in, it doesn't matter how you treat them; they have no choice but to come back to you.
Yes, you're right, I'm angry.

Thanks for letting me know that Norwich guns don't have the extra pin. I wonder about the Palmer's.
Like I said, it's OK if they just don't want to do it. I can get it drilled locally. But to treat me like I'm stupid with that ridiculous excuse; well, that just kinda sets my butt on fire. I'll get over it.
Is anyone gonna chime in with the definitive answer on the Palmer guns?

I guess there's the chance that they don't have the measurements for a 2-pin shroud any longer, if they stopped using that method before Norwich.
You may have some luck calling back & asking if you can send your other shroud in with it, so they can get an exact measurement. Otherwise, a smith could probably do it without much problem.

Phil:
Good luck getting that bottom pin out of the shroud and back into the frame where it belongs.
Jody:
You're right. It just doesn't make any sense, and .41 only. Now, if they had done all of the SM frames that way, we all would have probably been fooled into believing that it was necessary for the large frame guns.
I think I'm going to build a jig for my friend's drill press using one of the other barrels and then put the new barrel in it and chew a hole.
