Anybody know anything about a DW chambered for a 7mm bottle necked cartridge? I'm pretty sure at least one existed. Saw it mentioned in an old Shooter's Bible as being shown at one of the major shows. Recently someone mentioned it as being given to somebody.
(It would be a study to catalog all the one offs and oddballs, like the S&W Model 19 chambered for 38 Super. I have a S&W Model 29-9, a very rare bird.)

730 Waters. There was one made, a prototype. It is owned by a member on this forum. I've had the honor and pleasure to shoot it. It is currently chambered in 7mm Supermag.

What is the 7mm SuperMag?
As far as bottle necked cartridges tying up revolvers, it is largely a myth. A number of revolvers have been chambered for a number of bottle necked cartridges with no issues. I shoot three myself. The 22 Jet is an exception. If you intentionally designed a cartridge to tie up a revolver, it would be the 22 Jet. It was inspired by the 22 Harvey K-Chuck which didn't tie up revolvers. It was a case of the majors taking a wildcat and fixing what wasn't broke.
The 22 Jet gas has that ridiculously long shoulder causing set back. One of the cartridges I shoot is the 357-44 Bain & Davis. No set back issues.

7mm supermag is a cartridge developed by Elgin Gates, the father of the supermag family. It is formed from 357 supermag brass, necked down to 7mm. It shares the 1.610 case length of the supermag family.
It was not developed into a production revolver by Dan Wesson.
The gun I mentioned, was a prototype chambered in 7-30 Waters. I'm not sure the reasoning why , but it's current owner had it rechambered to 7mmSM.
The frame window on this gun is larger than that of the other DW supermags.
It was a privilege to have the opportunity to shoot this rare gun.
Perhaps it's owner will see this thread and expand on what I've mentioned.
