There is a Buehler clamp on scope mount available. It caught my attention. Caveat is that is is for a S&W L frame.
So I have been doing my due diligence this is what I came up with.
1) The top strap on a 15-2 or 22 Dan is .653 wide and starts out flat then slopes a tad and goes rounded.
2) A quick trip to the local GS reveals that the L frame S&W is .656 wide and the top is rounded the full length and more convex than the Dan.
I noticed that the rear target sight is much longer on the S&W 686 and that the frame is no where near as substantial as the Dan's.
Probably won't fit properly, right?
Any one have superior knowledge concerning this?
Endeavor to persevere,
Press on regardless.

Probabaly not. I recently "karma'd" away the DW specific Buehler mount, it was labelled Dan Wesson. To use a Buehler mount also requires removing the rear sight, FYI.
Here's a picture of a limited run item by EWK that was inspired by the Buehler mount.
It has a Picatinny rail so it will also accept a scope as long as the rings are not more than 3" apart. It does stand pretty tall on top of the gun, but you don't have to remove the rear sight. I know it looks a little strange, I've just never gotten around to cutting a piece to fit for the red dot. Easy way to mount a 2x scope however.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
