Finally had a couple days to get out to the range this week. One of them was spent shooting a silhouette match, with a little fun shooting afterwards, the second one was yesterday. I had the range all to myself the entire day, and it was a nice one, with a high of 80 degrees.

I love the fall days with the cooler, drier air and clear skies, and this one was near perfect. Before lunch, I shot a few XP-100's with scopes, while the shadows are worse. This picture was right at lunchtime. All the targets were well-defined, with dry berms behind them.

Some of the guns I brought, the .41 SRS on top, the 740 on the left, and the .375SM on the right.

The barrel nut was a little loose on the .375 after the last session, so I re-gapped the barrel and checked the sight settings with the Hornady 220 grain FN. The initial 50-meter setting was a few clicks off, but the changes after that were right on. Next time out, I want to compare this one with the  Seville .375, and see how they do.

The SRS was next. The last time I shot it, everything was too low, and this day confirmed that at all ranges out to 200 meters. After readjusting the sights at 200 meters, I went back down through the turkeys, pigs and chickens and recorded the new ones. Then I just shot several banks of turkeys and rams. This is a great shooter with the Hornady 210 grain Silhouette bullets. Man, it sure is fun to hear the clang, then watch the ram tip over. Burned up 90 rounds in this one.

Towards the end of the day, the 740 came out for a quick check of the sight settings. Not enough time to really enjoy it, but all the settings are good with the Speer 200 grain TMJ. Next range day I will spend a bit more time with this one, along with my 10" Contender in .357 Maximum. Being exhausted after a day of shooting is a lot better than after a day of work.

Ditto!  Very nice report as always IHMSA.  Thanks for bringing those of us in need of range time a little closer to it.

Your most welcome...at least others that might not be able to get to a range often, can see what it's like. Maybe dream a little, maybe be inspired to get out there sooner.

Great range report. Reading your range reports are the next best thing to being there.Cool

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Great range report, thanks!Laugh

I agree LB, next best thing to being there.Smile Plus there's a couple newCool Pics thrown in with the deal.

I'm planning on doing the same tomorrow...couldn't think of anything good to get my brother for his birthday, so I said "how about we go burn some powder?" He's all for that, especially since he's been drooling over my .454 Seville ever since I told him about it. I figure a $100 in ammo should be a good enough present.lol2
