I would love to see Dan bring back the 715 and possibly 744, offer the 715 in a 6in., 4in and possibly 2in. all VH for the carry market, I know "but the 8, 10, 12, etc. is my favorite" (8in is my preference) they're not popular enough to justify it for simplicity of manufacturing. have them be custom order. As for the 744 6in and 8in with others custom order. I know wesson firearms had a small J-frame sized gun don't know if Norwich has molds left over and if they're in good enough shape to work with but they have to be in the concealed carry market somehow. I think, despite loving them, that the supermag cartridges shouldn't even be thought about at first if you wanted to later that would be great.
Another thing for them to think about because obviously they are more experienced in the large/supermag frame part fitting is redesigning the small frame to use some large frame parts, like the bottom loader design of the triggerguard etc. kinda like the ruger guns. then all they would have to do is make a slightly smaller frame and hammer, the hand could be able to be shortened enough to probably work.
These are just some of my thoughts wheteher you agree with me or not, I'm just thinking to bring everything back out and have all the oddball stuff makes no business sense. They should stick to what has gotten them through before, the .357s and to some degree the .44s, if they don't we'll just see Dan revolvers die again, possibly for good. I HOPE NOT

I agree, with the current CCW surge we've seen lately, I would think they could make a profitable go at it with some new revolvers aimed at that market.
However, it appears that their minds have already been made up. Check out post #6 in this thread from last year.

I've spoken with Genny at DW for parts a time or two and she said they are trying to start a Custom Shop and that revolvers would be available. Last time I spoke with her she said a few revolvers had been made but they were not doing a wait list yet.
I hope that's true... but wonder if they tell stuff like that to revolver guys to keep their hopes up? I have a SuperMag into to them now to refinish the shroud to match the frame. I pick this one up NIB but the frame had a special finish on it and the shroud was stainless. The shop I go to bought a bunch of NOS from the America Remembers engravers.
I'm waiting for a call with a status and once I get it I'll see if I can get any info.
It's very sad they don't even produce a token number of revolvers!

Here is the update I promised after talking to Keith at DW.
Well just got off the phone with Keith about refinishing my shroud to make the frame. He quoted me $75 to refinish the shroud which I thought was an excellent price.
I ask about custom revolvers and he said their service department is currently swamped. So I guess no custom revolvers for the near future!
I'll post pictures of my 445 SuperMag when I get it back... I may be selling this one since I already have a blued one and a stainless one.

Well, I guess we'll just have to see how things go. Maybe CZ will get tired of being asked this same question so often & decide to do something about it after a while. I think the DW revolvers fill a special niche amongst revolver fans & as long as they are made with the same excellent quality as before, there would be buyers to snap them up.
1911's are nice & all, but IMO, they've been done to death.

They appear to be very successful with the 1911's and from what I've heard from DW, the shop is full making them. I agree with "done to death".
I also think that custom shop revolvers would be great.
I have a couple of automatics (including a Kahr...) and they all jam or misfeed from time to time - a revolver for CCW is money in the bank. A Dan Wesson is gold...

I hope you guys realize that Dan Wesson 1911's are considered to be a sort of "sleeper" in the 1911 market>>> high quality, great value for the dollar, excellent customer service. The folks buying them are passionate about them, talking to others about them, and enjoying shooting the hell out of them. Sounds a lot like Dan Wesson revolvers 20-30 years ago, when S&W and Colt owned the market, semiauto pistols were the new hot ticket, and DW revolvers just very quietly produced the great guns we enjoy, and can't get enough of now.
I have one 1911 (out of 10 pistols) it's a DW, and I want 1 more (a DW). Look at it this way, most pistol shooters will probably own a 1911 at some point in time, might as well be a Dan.

You're right Steve, I probably mis-spoke. I don't own one of the DW autos yet, so I shouldn't really knock them until I've tried one.
I've always preferred revolvers & am just saddened knowing that we might not have any more neat new stuff coming from DW in the way of revolvers. However, there's always the chance that CZ will decide to sell the rights to the revolvers to a custom shop or something & we might see a comeback...who knows?
Thinking a little more about it though, I still haven't collected all the cool ones that HAVE been produced & are just out there waiting for me, so I'll try to stay positive here.
Steve is right on with his comments. I recently picked up a used CBOB (which you don't see often because folks don't want to let them go) and have put 200 rounds through it and love it!
If you visit the Dan Wesson sub forum on the 1911forum.com DW has a very loyal following. They DW seems to really listen to the suggestions made for new products on that forum and I know Keith at DW regularly contributes to that forum.
I too get tired of seeing (and reading) all the 1911 articles but after getting my CBOB I see what folks are talking about at least when it comes to DW 1911s.
I like Charger Fan haven't picked up all the previously produced models I would like but I keep trying.
I would rather see DW owned by an American company but at least the folks building the 1911's are here...

Actually, maybe I came on a little strong. I agree that "1911 mania" can get a little opressive sometimes, especially when you encounter people that insist the the 1911 (or Glock 19, SIG 226, whatever) is the only pistol worth owning. I don't own a lot of guns, but I like every one I own, and I shoot them all.
Every time I think I know everything I need to know, Life proves otherwise to me .

I have actually been emailing Keith at CZ going on 2-1/2 years about building me a revolver, I send the question every three months or so and the answer is always the same that they are too busy building 1911's. I am persistant and will not give up the fight. More need to request until CZ catches on there is a market. Keith does a great job of the custom repair/refinish requests. He is very responsive and fair.
