First DW, first post....
Have several SW revolvers, very familiar with operation/repair. First DW. 8", full lug, vented rib, Monson production. Finish is good, has honest handling marks, definitely a shooter, not a safe queen/collector. Paid a fair price.
I can rotate the cylinder out of lock. Disassembled, thorough cleaning (surprised how simple the clock work is compared to SW), stoned stop on bolt so it protrudes through the frame a bit more and replaced the bolt tension spring with a stiffer one. lubed and reassembled.
Timing is good, when the hand is at full travel the bolt has fallen into the cylinder pocket with no play.
BUT, with the hammer down, I can still force the cylinder out of lock if I try hard enough.
I'm thinking I am going to take some material out of the bolt pocket where it rides the pin so it can be a little farther back on the cylinder pocket, it does appear to be riding slightly forward of the pocket.
Does any of this sound familiar or am I chasing my tail? I have seen where people say this is fairly normal on DW, but it doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling....
Thanks.

Welcome to DWF firstly and the I would say .
I would first look at the latch for wear or a burr.

Not very good pictures. Fixed. Sorry to have rattled any cages here. I took it back apart this morning and releaved the piviot area on the bolt and the upper limit pad area on the bolt a little more. This moved the bolts position back on the cylinder a few thousands and bobs your uncle, can't force it out of lock any more. If this was a stainless the light handling marks could be removed with polish/scotchbright. It's not so a shooter it will be.
Thanks.

You have to have an FFL to purchase a cylinder bolt?
There are parts that DW limits to gunsmith purchase, because they must be fitted and tuned
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Good job! When it comes to mechanics, I'm all thumbs. I can usually mutter through but it takes me about 5 times longer than your average screwdriver jockey. Anyway, now you've got a shooter!
